When you want changes in the interior, but the thought of renovation is terrifying: you imagine these ruined walls, stripped wallpaper, building mixes and tools, the mess and dirt around ... you need to take a deep breath and calm down at this moment. Don't let the nightmares about repairs bother you anymore. After all, you can change the usual order of things just by rearranging or adding a new one.

The most budget–friendly and interesting option is to bring brightness and individuality to your interior with the help of decor: interesting posters, paintings in bright frames, exotic art objects, modern textiles or all kinds of dummy pillows.

The first pillows were found in the tombs of the Egyptian pharaohs, but they did not look at all like modern ones. They were a curved plaque on a stand decorated with deities protecting human sleep from evil spirits. Egyptians were not worried about comfortable sleep, but about preserving their hairstyles. Much later, the ancient Greeks began to stuff pillows, which were then taken away by the Romans as war trophies. That's how the "pillow" journey around the world began.

And if everything is very clear with pillows for sleeping: what are they for, what size, from what material — this can all be explained by a sales consultant in a store, what kind of decorative sofa cushions are there?

It is difficult to even imagine how diverse sofa cushions can be: knitted, sewn, braided, leather, canvas, silk, linen, denim, decorated with puffs, pleats, pockets, flowers, appliques, buttons, photography and so on. Sofa cushions are distinguished by size, shape, type of filler and purpose, but they are all able to transform a bored interior in just a moment.

Quantity and location:

It is best to leave the traditional placement of pillows in pairs in the past. Try an odd number: 3 or 5 pieces. Perhaps a few large ones will look more appropriate than, albeit carefully stacked, a pile of small dumpling pillows.

Shape and size:

Square pillows are the most spectacular, but round ones are also possible. Using a non-standard shape, it is worth avoiding oversaturation of the decor. It is very important to observe the size: a square with a side (circle with a diameter) from 45 cm to 60 cm. If the pillows are on a sofa or sofa with a very low back, then a size of 40 cm is allowed, so as not to violate the integrity of the ensemble.

Filling:

The most expensive filler is a feather, but such pillows are soft and cozy, they are pleasant to hug and put under your back. Foam rubber and other synthetic materials are more rigid, they hold their shape very well.

Cloth:

Designers advise focusing on a limited number of colors, large geometric patterns, bright prints on smooth and dense fabric. For example, cotton and linen look great in a modern interior. But if you still really want to diversify the gray everyday life and add more color, then look around and note what art or decor items are in the room. Highlight some bright and interesting ones, use the same color and theme in the design of the pillows.

Composition:

Try to "play" with shape and color to find the optimal combination for your interior. Place two large contrasting pillows in each edge of the sofa, a rectangular one in the center, and two smaller ones with a fancy shape, or decorated with decor. It is important that the decor be a "companion" in color with the upholstery of the sofa or textiles in the room (curtains, tablecloth, carpet, and so on).

Stick to the principle: "A lot does not mean good." And remember that the beginning of the business is half, decorating your own home to get a fashionable and stylish interior is a very exciting activity. When the appetite "comes", it is difficult to stop.
