Choosing a coffee table for the living room
The coffee table has become so firmly embedded in the interior of urban apartments that it has long been used not only for its intended purpose. It has become an effective part of the apartment's design, giving the usual interior a stylish and finished look.
By installing a coffee table in the living room, you can combine all the decorative elements in the room and give it more comfort. It seems that it is difficult to buy one of the pieces of furniture? But you need to buy the one that will perfectly match the rest of the interior and complement it organically. Here are some tips to follow when buying a coffee table.
Style.
The design of all pieces of furniture should correspond to the idea of decorating the room. An effective and original table will easily become a compositional center, on the other hand, if the design is different without it, it is better to choose a traditional coffee table that will bring softness to the interior.
Material.
Of course, solid wood furniture is an indicator of wealth and position in society. It has always been believed that the owner of solid wood furniture is a very wealthy person. But now there are a large number of materials: glass, metal, transparent plastic, — furniture made of them looks harmoniously in a limited space and small areas. Wood, marble and stone, on the contrary, are better suited for spacious rooms, they will not fit into a small apartment with their solidity and massiveness.
Dark shades of wood are best: Italian walnut, mahogany. In combination with wrought iron, the design of such a table is the best fit for an interior in a traditional style. Glass, metal and artificial leather will show their individuality in modern interior design.
Size.
Coffee tables can be of different shapes, including irregular ones, so you need to measure it from all sides to know for sure whether it is possible to put it in one place or another. The standard and most suitable size is considered to be half or two thirds of the length of the sofa, next to which the table will stand. Its height should not be higher than the sofa and armchairs in the room. If the shape is oblong, then the width of the table is allowed from 50 cm to 75 cm, the length is at least half the length of the sofas or sofas. Round coffee tables should not have a radius of more than 45 cm.
Form.
Oval or round ones are ideal for small rooms, but rectangular ones are suitable for rooms of any size, low tables look good in interiors with high ceilings.
Comfort.
Tables with foot support are very comfortable. And, for example, glass tables are easy to clean, although dirt on their surface also appears very quickly. And even if small children live in the house, parents will not buy such a table. If there are often guests in the house, and large companies gather in the living room over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, then you should opt for a round or elliptical coffee table. If the owners of the house have a habit of laying out books, magazines, photo albums everywhere, then a table with drawers will be appropriate, so as not to clutter the surface, which is already not very large.
Functionality.
In addition to a cup of tea or coffee, decorative items and art, vases with flowers, plates with fruits can be on the table. And built-in drawers allow you to put books, newspapers, various small things in it, an untidy appearance can spoil any interior.
